I am dedicating my life to protect wildlife and environment!

Working as field marine biologist. Freediving with jellyfish.

Working as field marine biologist sometimes is dangerous.

Because to see a marine animal from close (so you can see as best you can the morphological characteristics) sometimes you can be bitten or stinged.

And that's extreme dangerous because some animals have poison and other have some toxins which by each one person have different healthy problems can be fatal. Also sometimes to record observations you need to work on severe weather. To dive when raining or snowing, or the sea has strong currents or big waves.

What I am doing Freediving with jellyfish?

I am participating in a citizen science project about recording jellyfish in Greece. Every time when I freedive I am looking if there is a jellyfish nearby.

I am taking as many photos I can and then I upload them to iNaturalist (that's because my observations can be useful in more than one project).

And last but not least I am taking videos of touching the jellyfish to educate people that are not monsters but creatures that if you know what to do and how to react if you see a jellyfish to not destroy your vacations and to avoid sometimes to not let people go and take them out of the water and let them die.

Swimming and freediving with some kind of jellyfish can be dangerous.

Please don't touch them. Especially if you don't have basic knowledge of them and the skills to do what it must be done to avoid injury of the jellyfish or yourself.
